It appears as though Sister Lucy Truth (SLT) is attempting to court Mel Gibson. The reason? To promote the Fake Lúcia Hypothesis (FLH).

Back on July 20 of this year, SLT’s Substack account carried an article about Gibson’s famous visit to Coimbra in 2004.[1] Underneath the article were some comments. One of them was from “Padre Peregrino,” the avatar name for Fr. David Nix of the Archdiocese of Denver.

Nix’s friendship with Mel Gibson is well-known. It was advertised on Nix’s Padre Peregrino website in 2021, as well as on Twitter.[2] At that time, Nix was present at Gibson’s place in Agoura Hills, CA for a “super-charged” retreat. Additionally, the two were in a video on the YouTube channel Avoiding Babylon in 2024.[3]

Now, however, SLT is looking to court Gibson through Fr. Nix in the hopes that Gibson will help promote the FLH.

Fr. Nix would be wise to be aware of the opposition research against the FLH. If he wants Gibson to take the FLH seriously, then the opposition research must be taken into account as well. For his part, Gibson himself would do well to contact those who contest the FLH.

Oh, and one more thing. In its Substack article, Sister Lucy Truth reproduces the photos of Gibson’s encounter with Sr. Lúcia. If I am not mistaken, those photos are copyrighted.

I wonder if Dr. Peter Chojnowski obtained a license to reproduce those photographs beforehand? If not, it appears he has forgotten the legal ramifications about which Carlos Evaristo warned him in July 2020 on using photographs without permission.[4]
