For the past few days, Michael Brown has carried an article over on Spirit Daily about the case of Our Lady of America and the new Vatican Norms on alleged apparitions. Here is how the SD front page looks like as of today (May 29):

The link (highlighted in the above image) asks if the “New Vatican rules on apparitions confer approval on U.S. one?” When you click the link, Brown discusses the “Our Lady of America” alleged apparition that received a negative judgment. This decision came under the previous Vatican Norms from 1978, which were then in effect.

On May 17, the Vatican promulgated new Norms that supersede the 1978 Norms. Michael Brown is now wondering if the Our Lady of America case now enjoys some kind of “approval” based upon the new Norms.

The answer is no. The case in question was decided when the 1978 Norms were in effect.
There is no retroactive conferral of approval with the new Norms now enjoying legal force.
