In Defense of the World Apostolate of Fátima

The World Apostolate of Fatima, USA Inc. recently published a biography of Sr. Lúcia—the last surviving visionary of Fátima (†2005)—entitled A Pathway Under the Gaze of Mary (see my review here). The book itself was a translation of a Portuguese biography entitled Um Caminho Sob o Olhar de Maria and was published in 2013 by the Carmelite Sisters of Coimbra, Portugal. This translation was critiqued recently, and I would like to respond to the critique as a whole.

Book Review: A Pathway Under the Gaze of Mary

Originally published at Catholic Stand on April 13, 2015I am happy to add that the World Apostolate of Fátima has released the 2nd edition of this book.

Shortly after Sr. Lúcia of Fátima died ten years ago, I remember remarking to someone, “Her death means we will only now come to know of things about Fátima that were previously unknown.” Knowing the beautiful story of Fátima, its message, and the unfortunate controversies surrounding it, I also knew that there was a treasure to be uncovered. This treasure was guarded—and well—by Sister herself and intended by God to be known only after her death.
